1. Are there any prerequisites that I
should be aware of before I sign up?
YES. This is an intro-intermediate level class.
NewB Notes: That means (for newBs) that the class requirement being that you own a DSLR camera
w/ lenses AND know the basics of how to use it (how to access
menus, shooting on auto & semi-aucto, etc). If you do not have a DSLR, or you purchase a DSLR the day
before the workshop, you will be missing a lot of information. If you plan to get a new camera before this event, learn how to use it
BEFORE the workshop! Even camera bodies made by the same manufacturer may have
differences that throw you for a loop.
Monopolizing the instructors because you are unaware of how
your equipment works is not possible.
It is not fair to the rest of the class.
Things like shutter speed, ISO, aperture, etc. will be discussed
and referred to during the class and you will need to know how to
adjust those settings on your camera in order to get the most out of this
workshop.
In the event that you purchased a new camera and want to
try it out, make sure you bring your old body WITH you – just in
case. If you have a
point and shoot camera, this class is not recommended.
Advanced Student Notes:
This class is also suggested for more advanced students who want
to sharpen their skills and get more details on how Belle's shoots
such dramatic images. In the 2008 class we had students at
different skill levels. Those who are not brand new
have a lot of fun at this workshop, and really get access to all
things Belle's that our basics workshops don't have time to
get to. This is one of our favorite places to shoot in the
entire country.
Registration is open to those residing outside of Abilene
and surrounding areas. If
you would like to attend and live less than 75 miles away, please
contact Belle's for permission.
2. Where is Abilene, TX?
Abilene is pretty much smack in the
middle of Texas. If you are flying in for this event, we are
serviced by Abilene Regional Airport (ABI). Fares into
Abilene commonly hang out around $300 RT, but may vary based on
your departure city. Abilene is a day trip from the Dallas
Fortworth Metroplex.
3. Will we get to shoot anywhere
we want in the Paramount?
The Paramount will have stations set up
for the photographers to shoot in. Due to the fact that this
is a historic location with many irreplaceable artifacts, we have
chosen the primary locations that we know work well at this
location, while incorporating the architectural beauty into your
shots. We have access to the lobby, mezzanine, and upper mezzanine
for shooting. And there are plenty of bathrooms for
everyone.
4. What kind of models will be
present?
This event will use beautiful models who
are real people. They aren't fashion models or
playmates. This way you will get a feel for posing and lighting
with a
REAL person.
5. Is there a discount on this
workshop?
Yes, if you pay in full at the time you
register for the class, your fee will be discounted. Please
check the correct box on the registration form. There are
two payment options - a deposit with the remainder to be billed
closer to the event, or payment in full with a discount.
6. Can you recommend a nice
hotel nearby?
One of Abilene's nicer hotels is the MCM
Elegante Suites. Room rates start at $99 per night.
They have an indoor pool, atrium, restaurant and bar, all rooms are suits, and a free
hot breakfast each morning. Click
here for more info and to make reservations. 7.
What equipment should I bring? You
will need your camera body(s), lenses, and something to take notes
with. Other recommended
equipment, but is NOT required includes: tri/monopods, reflectors,
flashes, diffusers, and laptop computer. We
will provide lighting for this event. 8.
I am a newB. I have never been to a workshop before.
Is this one too advanced for me? This
workshop is open to newbies. You do NOT need experience
shooting weddings under your belt to attend and benefit from this
workshop. Many of the people who have attended our wedding workshops in the
past have been new to wedding photography. Wedding
photography is vastly different from other forms of
photography. This workshop gives a good overview of wedding
photography. Many portrait photographers elected to attend
this workshop in 2008 (last time it was offered) and they got some
very striking images. 9. Is this
the Weddings 101 Class? Or Dramatic Lighting? This
is a NEW, ALL DAY workshop that Belle's Photography has
created. It has some of the basic components of the Weddings
101 workshop and the Dramatic Lighting workshop, however, there is
much more exhaustive course content, including presentation and
execution with a smaller student to teacher ratio. We created
this workshop based on feedback from past students who have
attended workshops. Students indicated that they would like an
all day workshop, with a small class, ready access to teachers,
and a fantastic location. They also requested to see where
Belle's is getting their money-making shots. We took those
requests and created this new workshop. 10.
When will this workshop be offered again? This
workshop will be offered again in approximately 18 months. 11.
I heard a rumor that the 2010 workshop will be over 2-days. Is
that true? Maybe/ ;o)
We worked our 2008 class to the bone by doing everything in 1
day. We plan on spreading the 2010 workshop out over 2 days to
allow more content to sink in before you all leave. The class
content will be the similar to 2008, but the time will change. 12.
Do you offer other workshops? Yes,
we do. To see our other workshops, please visit our blog. 13.
Do you offer this workshop in an ebook? No,
we do not. It has much too much course content to possibly fit
in an ebook. However, if you really want to dig into wedding
photography, we suggest Belle's instant resources on wedding
photography which are located here. 14.
I heard you have a bridal posing ebook that I can study before the
class. How do I buy it? That
is listed with lots of details right over here. |
